St. George`s UP School, Mukkattukara. History Mukkattukara is a village located about 5. KM east of Thrissur, which is known as the cultural center of Kerala. The educational history of Mukkattukara is inextricably linked with the social history of the place. The awareness that education is essential for achieving a high standard of living arose among the people, and this need was conveyed to the King of Cochin, Kerala Varma V (1888- 1895), as a result of which the first government primary school in the eastern region of Thrissur was established in 1890 under the name "Paravattani Pravarthi Padashala". Over time, following the strong demand for a UP school to provide upper primary education, the local people under the leadership of Hon. Fr. George Vazhappilly, as a result of the united efforts of the locals, the King of Cochin established St. George`s UP School was established. St. George`s UP started its operations in 1941 as a complete UP school comprising classes 5, 6 and 7. The school building was reconstructed in 2008 and the school continues to function as a pillar of education, with the children achieving excellent success in their studies and extracurricular activities.
